Book Cover Specifications
Preparing Your Cover Art for Publishing
The book cover will be in full colour and consists of a front, spine, and back cover. Your book cover file must be submitted in a print-ready .pdf file.
Some key things to note:
- The cover should be centered on an 17"x11" (tabloid) sheet.
- Leave a 0.5" bleed on all sides of the cover to ensure no white space or edges on the finished book.
- Images and photos should be CMYK 300dpi to have the best printed representation in colour.
How to determine your spine width:
Use the following formula to determine your spine width in inches.
Page count x 0.00197 = spine width (inches)
Example:
Your page has a final page count of 200 (includes all blank pages, title pages, table of contents, introduction, etc.)
200 pages x 0.00197 = 0.394 inches
