The Post Office Closed
Campus Store to Host Canada Post Express Outlet
After careful consideration the Campus Store has determined that a full-service postal outlet is no longer financially viable and will shift operations to a Canada Post Express model of service delivery as of June 1st, 2013.
The Canada Post Express outlet will feature stamps and Xpress post options for letter delivery but services such as Post Office boxes, registered mail, money orders and parcel shipping will no longer be offered. Student Loans can no longer be processed at the Campus Store. For a list of full service Post Offices that process student loans please visit the Government of Canada website.
Canada Post Express outlets will be located in the Main Store, Gilmour Hall and in the Health Sciences location, HSC 1G1.
In 1988 the Bookstore opened a postal outlet to service the needs of the McMaster Community. For the past 25 years this postal operation ha s shipped thousands of packages and millions of letters on behalf of it’s customers.
In the past 5 years Canada Post has seen a historic shift in traditional mail as well as a sharp decline in mail volume. Customers who previously relied on physical mail are now turning to electronic means of sending and receiving correspondence.
Canada Post realizes to remain relevant they will need to make fundamental changes to their business model and as such they are opening up an ongoing dialog with their customers. Community members who utilize their services are encouraged to log onto canadapost.ca and click on “The Future of Canada Post” button to join in the discussion.
